Markku Salo (Nokia, 1954) is one of the artists and designers in glass more marked in the European scene today. In Finland, heads the group of glass artist of his generation, devoting his activity both the design of funcional objects and the experimentation and search for new artistic expressions.
Since 1971 he has participated in numerous colective and individual exhibitions in galleries and some of the major glass museums in the world.
He has won several national awards and scholarships, among which the Finnish State Prize for Industrial and Applied Arts, and International, like Georg Jensen Prize at Nordic design.
His work is in major museums around the world as the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, Vitorian & Albert Museum in London and the National Museum in Stockholm.
