Exhibitions

Starting in 1998 when the first exhibition was held under the title "Volume and Form" until today, the MAVA has organised over thirty temporary exhibitions. Along these years, the Museum has endeavoured to find a balance between the shows dedicated to works by a single artist and the collective ones featuring pieces by several authors under a theme: ("Very Fragile" 2005), a common origin ("The Czech Glass School of Zelezny Brod" 2004), or a revision exercise ("Visions" 2007).

Since the MAVA is the unique museum of its kind in our country, as a general rule exhibitions are home-produced. Moreover, in many cases, we have organised our exhibitions on request by other museums and Contemporary Art Centres, thus stablishing an itinerant flow throughout various towns in Spain. Such has been the case with the exhibition showing the "Works selected for the First International Competition of Glass Sculpture" (2006) which could be seen at the Museum of the University of Alicante-MUA in autumn 2006, at La Capilla Exhibition Room in Lugo in March 2007 and at the Tomás y Valiente Centre in Fuenlabrada between May and June 2007.

"Creative Jewelry with glass" produced by the MAVA for the Week of the Science is on display in Barcelona at the Craftmanship of Catalunya exhibition room until July 15th 2008.
