PRESENTACIÓN

In 1995, the MAVA started offering the schools curriculum an educational programe aimed at drawing children, our would be public in the future, close to acquaintance with works made of a material –glass- that is extremely interesting from a technical as well as from a plastic and artistic point of view.

ACTIVITY GOALS

The activity goals are the following:

Gaining appraisal for the Museum of the town where the children live, creating awareness and a commitment to preserve and take care of a patrimony that belongs to all of us and we should all be proud of.

Drawing students near to the concept of Museum and to how the MAVA corresponds to that model:
Collection, artist, contributor, etc

Giving special attention to what is the correct behaviour and attitude in these type of places.

Including the Museum in the educational services provided by the Council.

Dealing with concepts such as plastic arts, creativity, the work of art, etc.

Re-examining the nature of glass, its applications at home, in Science and Technology comparing them with the artistic use they are witnessing.

Prioritarily addressed to students of the Primary school 5th course in Alcorcón

Description of the activity:

The group with consist of a maximum of 20-25 children (the students of a class-room). Then, they will split into two parties, one of which will enjoy a guided visit to the Museum and the other, the glass workshop helped by two instructors who are members of the association "Vitrium".

After approximately 40 minutes, both groups will swap activities. Then, they will get together in order to discuss their experiences, doubts, questions, etc.

What became of my glass work?

From the day after the activity took place, on Wednesdays and at any time within the Museum visit hours, every child, accompanied by either his/her parents or a relative, may come to the Museum to collect his/her piece. It will be a wonderful occasion for children to turn into a guide for their elders.

How to take part and how much it is going to cost?

Reservations in advance should be made calling the Museum phone 91 112 76 30 during opening hours.

Activities will take place every school day from October through May between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 a.m.

Children are only expected to come with a willing attitude.

This activity is completely cost-free except the expenses involved in bringing the children from their school to the Museum.
