What is the Association of Friends of the MAVA?

It is a non-profit association comprised by all those who are interested in spreading wide the patrimony in care of the Museum so that it will gain the appraisal it deserves. People wanting to collaborate who one way or the other are committed to it volunteering as group guides, searching for sponsors and contributing with their personal property or work. Besides, they announce in due time all projects and activities carried out at the Museum by means of lectures, courses, publications, advertising campaigns, etc.

Among its goals, the most relevant are channelling and coordinating the efforts of all people who would wish to contribute to improving the performance of the Museum they are attached to in close collaboration with its Management.

The MAVA friends may be moved by civic responsibility, by the desire to work in the cultural world or by a mere relationship of proximity or coincidence of ideas regarding this project.

Resources are raised through the membership fees (15 € a year), donations and contributions, Public Administration subsidies as well as the revenues obtained by their legal activities as approved by their Management Boards.

Nowadays, there are over 85 Associations of Friends which are enclosed in the Spanish Federation of Friends of the Museums, FEAM, created in 1983, which organises congresses, exhibitions seminars, training courses, etc. This organisation in its turn is a member of the World Federation of Friends of the Museums.
