Permanent collection
The core of the MAVA Permanent Collection was formed from two sources: on the one hand the donation by Mrs. Takako Sano of a major part of her private collection -over 60 pieces- and on the other, by direct donations from several artists, boosted by Javier Gómez.
Thus, the Museum was inaugurated in 1997 with 107 pieces.
Along the last ten years, the Collection has been enriched to the 160 present items thanks either to the temporary exhibitions whereby new donations have been favoured or by acquisitions and more recently with the International Competition of Glass Sculpture.
The Competition, that is announced within the Plastic Arts Biennial of Alcorcón, follows the pattern prize-acquisition. Thus, the pieces selected by the jury are acquired and added up to the Permanent Collection.
