BIENAL DE JOYERIA CONTEMPORANEA EN VIDRIO
Con el objetivo de promover los talentos y valores de la joyería europea contemporánea, se lanza una nueva edición de la Bienal de Joyería Contemporánea en Vidrio, ampliándose esta vez a nivel europeo.
La Bienal pretende ofrecer una muestra representativa de este subsector de la artesanía y reunir en una única exposición a jóvenes talentos y artistas consagrados que trabajan en torno al versátil material del vidrio y al mismo tiempo promueven sinergias y colaboraciones entre artesanos de diferentes ámbitos.
Se invita a participar en la convocatoria a creadores de joyería que produzcan piezas hechas principalmente de vidrio. Las presentaciones deberán ser piezas únicas, con un concepto escultórico y artístico, capaces de ser utilizadas como adorno para el cuerpo humano, independientemente de las tendencias del mercado. El jurado, compuesto por expertos de diversos sectores, será el encargado de seleccionar las piezas que se presentarán en la Bienal.
Las obras seleccionadas formarán parte de una exposición que se mostrará primero en el MAVA - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo en Vidrio de Alcorcón, España. Posteriormente, la exposición podrá viajar por toda Europa si la financiación lo permite. Se publicará un catálogo online (inglés/español) con imágenes de todas las piezas, contribuyendo a difundir la variedad y calidad de la artesanía europea.
REQUISITOS DE PARTICIPACIÓN
- Se invita a los artesanos europeos a participar en la convocatoria.
- Por “joyas” nos referimos a todas aquellas piezas únicas, con un concepto escultórico y artístico, capaces de ser utilizadas como adorno para el cuerpo humano, independientemente de las tendencias del mercado.
- Las piezas deben ser principalmente de vidrio.
- Cada participante podrá proponer hasta tres piezas o conjuntos. Las presentaciones pueden ser piezas individuales o una serie de piezas. El comité de selección elegirá hasta un máximo de tres piezas por artesano (contando los conjuntos como una sola obra).
- Las solicitudes se pueden realizar completando este FORMULARIO, hasta el 21 de enero de 2024.
PROCESO DE SELECCIÓN
Un jurado, compuesto por expertos de diversos sectores (diseño, artesanía, docencia, artes, etc.) será el encargado de seleccionar las piezas que se exhibirán. El jurado valorará la calidad, el diseño y la creatividad de las obras.
Los seleccionados serán notificados por correo electrónico y la lista de piezas, junto con su(s) autor(es), se publicará en los sitios web de WCCE, MAVA y FUNDESARTE el 12 de febrero de 2024.
EXHIBICIÓN
Los artistas seleccionados deberán enviar sus obras al MAVA - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo en Vidrio de Alcorcón, Avda. de los Castillos s/n, 28925 Alcorcón - España, entre el 26 de febrero y el 8 de marzo de 2024.
La exposición con todas las obras seleccionadas se inaugurará en el MAVA el próximo 3 de abril de 2024 a las 00:00 horas coincidiendo con las Jornadas Europeas de la Artesanía Artística.
Además, se publicará en línea un catálogo bilingüe (inglés/español) con imágenes de todas las piezas aportadas por sus autores y los datos contenidos en la documentación aportada.
CONDICIONES DE PARTICIPACIÓN
Los participantes serán responsables del envío de las obras (incluido el embalaje y el seguro del transporte).
La organización no se hará responsable de cualquier rotura, robo o deterioro de las piezas antes de su llegada a MAVA.
Las imágenes que se envíen se utilizarán para la edición del catálogo de la exposición, así como para la difusión -por cualquier medio- de la exposición en otros espacios donde pueda exhibirse, y deberán estar libres de derechos de autor.
Una vez finalizada la exposición, presumiblemente en febrero de 2026, los participantes tendrán un máximo de 3 meses para recoger las obras del MAVA. Transcurridos 3 meses, el destino de las piezas lo decidirá la organización.
La participación en esta convocatoria supone la aceptación plena de las condiciones especificadas.
BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY GLASS JEWELLERY
With the aim of promoting the talents and values of contemporary European jewellery, a new edition of the Biennial of Contemporary Glass Jewellery is being launched, and expanding this time at European level.
The Biennial aims to offer a representative sample of this subsector of craft and bring together in a single exhibition, young talents and established artists who work around the versatile material of glass while simultaneously promoting synergies and collaborations between artisans from different fields.
Jewellery creators who produce pieces made primarily from glass are invited to participate in the call. Submissions should be unique pieces, with a sculptural and artistic concept, capable of being used as an ornament for the human body, regardless of market trends. The jury, made up of experts from various sectors will be in charge of selecting the pieces that will be featured in the Biennial.
The selected works will be part of an exhibition that will be shown first at the MAVA - Museum of Contemporary Glass Art in Alcorcón, in Spain. Subsequently, the exhibition will be open to travel throughout Europe if the funding allows it. An online catalogue (English / Spanish) will be published with images of all the pieces, contributing toward disseminating the variety and quality of European crafts.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
- European based craftmakers are invited to participate in the call.
- By ‘jewellery’ we mean all those unique pieces, with a sculptural and artistic concept, capable of being used as an ornament for the human body, regardless of market trends.
- The pieces must be made primarily of glass.
- Each participant will be able to propose up to three pieces or ensembles. Submissions can be individual pieces or a series of pieces. The selection committee will choose up to a maximum of three pieces per craftsmaker (counting the ensembles as a single work).
- Applications can be made by completing this FORM, until January 21st, 2024.
SELECTION PROCESS
A jury, composed of experts from various sectors (design, crafts, teaching, arts, etc.) will be in charge of selecting the pieces that will be exhibited. The jury will assess the quality, design and creativity of the artworks.
Those selected will be notified by email and the list of pieces, along with their author(s), will be published on the WCCE, MAVA and FUNDESARTE websites on February 12th, 2024.
EXHIBITION
The selected artists will need to send their pieces to the MAVA - Museum of Contemporary Glass Art in Alcorcón, Avda. de los Castillos s/n, 28925 Alcorcón - Spain, between the 26th February and 8th of March 2024.
The exhibition with all the selected works will be opened at the MAVA on April 3rd 2024 at 12:00 a.m. coinciding with the European Artistic Craft Days.
Additionally, a bilingual catalogue (English/Spanish) will be published online with images of all the pieces provided by their authors and the data contained in the documentation provided.
PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
- The participants will be responsible for shipment of the works (including packaging and insurance for the transport).
- The organisation will not be held responsible for any breakage, theft or deterioration of the pieces prior to their arrival at MAVA.
- The images that are sent will be used to edit the catalogue of the exhibition, as well as for the dissemination- in any means- of the exhibition in other venues where it can be exhibited, and must be free of copyright.
- Once the exhibition is over, presumably February 2026, the participants will have a maximum of 3 months to collect the works from MAVA. After 3 months, the destination of the pieces will be decided by the organisation.
- Participation in this call entails full acceptance of the specified conditions.
